Desert Hot Springs Resident Faces Allegations of Sexual Assault on Two Rideshare Drivers

A resident of Desert Hot Springs is currently in custody and is being held without bail on charges of sexually assaulting at least two rideshare drivers, with authorities suspecting the possibility of additional victims.

On August 28th, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department apprehended Luis Enrique Lora, a 20-year-old individual, and subsequently booked him into the Riverside County Jail in Indio. Lora faces charges of attempted rape by force, sexual battery, and false imprisonment.

The investigation began approximately a week and a half earlier when a rideshare driver reported being sexually assaulted. According to a police statement, the alleged incident occurred at the conclusion of a ride with a customer who had hired the driver on August 18th. A physical altercation took place within the vehicle, followed by the suspect fleeing the scene.

Initially, Lora’s bail was set at $500,000; however, he was later released from custody on his own recognizance, pending further action by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

On September 28th, Lora was rearrested by the police as they probed a second alleged sexual assault incident involving another rideshare driver. This incident had occurred the night before, and Lora was identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody along the 13500 block of Don English Way in Desert Hot Springs. His current bail is set at $100,000, and he now faces charges of attempted rape by force, sexual battery, false imprisonment, and committing a felony while out on bail.

Authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information related to this case to come forward.
